Industrial Scan to BIM: 3D modeling of an energy recovery plant
The digitization of complex sites is a pillar of modern industrial strategy. For this major project, IMAG'ING deployed an industrial scan to bim methodology to create a perfect digital replica of an Energy Recovery Plant (ERP). This precise model now allows the operator to plan future infrastructures with total reliability. Discover the behind-the-scenes details of this technical intervention.
Reality capture for advanced asset management
The challenge of this mission was to produce a global digital model integrating the complete environment of the site. To achieve this, the use of a high-performance 3d building laser scanner made it possible to freeze the geometry of civil engineering and complex architectural structures.
This initial survey phase is crucial to guarantee data consistency. By digitizing all structures, from roadways to process equipment, we provide a sound working base for all subsequent engineering studies. Industrial scan to bim thus transforms a physical facility into an actionable and scalable database.

A hybrid methodology for an exhaustive 3D survey
To capture every corner of the plant, IMAG'ING combined several state-of-the-art technologies. The use of static 3d building laser scanners was preferred for technical areas requiring millimeter precision. In addition, mobile scanners accelerated the coverage of very large ground surfaces.

The intervention covered impressive volumes: 40,000 square meters of land and 10,000 square meters of indoor floor space. All these data sources were georeferenced to build a unique point cloud. The final result, delivered in Revit format, breaks down the site by lots like structure, equipment, and ducts, offering indispensable clarity for maintenance and new works.
